Preparation for birth
It's true! Towards the end you just want baby out. Your feet's swollen, you can hardly move but you do have more energy. That was my experience anyway.
I consciously throughout the pregnancy avoided stress, remained positive and rested more. Towards the end was no different. The only other thing I did was to walk more.
Your packed bag should include enough comfy clothes, slippers, your favourite snacks, comfy bra, toiletries (breast pads essential).
The birth may not go according to your plan. Try to prepare for this mentally. The most valuable lesson I learnt from a work colleague (and a mother of 2) is that you know your body best. Do not let anyone force you into doing anything during labour.
Things didn't go as planned for me. After 16 hours of induced labour...nothing happened. My gynae came along the next morning and wanted to still continue with a natural birth. My instinct kicked in and I insisted on a caesarian.
After the caesarian the gynae admitted that was the right decision as I had only dilated 3cm and the cord was around my little boy's neck!
