Career change

Now that you are a parent with the added responsibility of taking care of a precious life you may be considering a change in career that affords flexibility to spend more time with your child.

I think it is important for a parent to have something of their own outside of taking care of a child.  Not only because a child grows up but also for your own personal development and growth. Even if it is a hobby.   During my maternity leave, I started a children's series and did a tax course.  With the children's book, I learnt how to publish the book just from watching videos.  I'm now on my fourth book.

If you do not know where to start, find what you are passionate about.  Starting this website, is another hobby of mine borne from the desire to help. I've done this website by myself again just from watching videos!  I'm stating this to encourage you that you CAN do it too.  (And also so you won't be too harsh in case you spot something out of place on the site.  Do tell me.  Gently!)

What's in your hand right now that you love doing? If you love children, maybe consider running a daycare from home. If it's books, start writing.  You could turn your current job (if possible) into your own business eg. book-keeping/accounting services.  If people are always over at your place eating and raving about your food then consider a catering service.
